Princess,
What, I am arrogant because I press the issue? Maybe you are afraid that I am correct, as is your sister-in-law who is trying to help you and your mother? You know what? I see the JW and ex-JW attitudes toward those who are 'born again', the sneering contempt born of Watchtower teachings doesn't die easily.
Your are just trying to weasel out of your own laziness. I posted information from MY RESEARCH that I have posted here before, so quit claiming it is a 'cut and paste' as if it is some method of cheating. You are just fogging the issue.
I posted scripture used as a general guideline to show the gospel to those who don't know it. It speaks for itself as it is in context to the question of salvation. There are only two types of souls left at judgement: the lost, who will suffer eternal separation from God according to their deeds; the saved, who are found in the book of life and will be judged (with rewards) as to their deeds.
Salvation is solely determined by your free will action to the gospel; accept or reject.
That is the white throne judgement of Revelation. Forget your JW or New Age ideas of 'we're all good and we all go to the same place', you are being lied to if someone claims it is biblical.
I posted plenty of scriptural proof for the immortal soul, you ignore it, so be it.

Taliban not original--Moses 1st
by patio34 inhope you're having a swell evening.
there are two christian young women from the u.s. who are imprisoned in afghanistan for trying to make converts.
of course, it seems astonishing to folks here in the u.s.. it seems things have come full circle, because in the law of moses if someone came to you talking about another god besides jehovah, even your 'wife lying in your bosom,' you were to report them.

Hi Everyone,
Don't just quack away at what you think are the comparisons, cite specific examples of Taliban acts and the Law Covenant. While you're at it, bring in the actual Judges rulings from apocryphal writings of Judaism......
My point? You are again making accusations using gereralizations probably gleaned from atheist web sites, which consistently ignore the context of Old Testament times vs modern 'civilized' rules of law.
The Koran itself is a corrupted version of corrupted Arabian Kingdom law, which was a corruption of Hebrew law!

Hi Princess,
>As for Jesus telling the man he would be with him in paradise, keep in mind that the punctuation was added after translating. He could just have easily been saying "truly I tell you today, you will be with me..." I realize this is the JW explanation for that scripture and I don't know which way is correct.
Then why not research it? No one proves any doctrine with one scripture, that is the first tip off that the teaching is wrong.
>I personally don't think it matters. My point is, you can't prove it is one way or the other. You have not proven the immortal soul with this scripture.
Princess
And you did not read my post very well. Every main doctrine of protestant theology can be proven with scriptural backing. As Jws, we learn only the rudimentary lessons of a cult that doesn't want us to think for ourselves. This is the most important thing you can ever do. Learn proper exgesis of scripture and why there are solid beliefs before you blow it off.
Saint Atan
Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn and their ilk are false teachers who have unsupported ideas about scripture. No wonder you are now 'out' of the faith.

quote]This is strictly for those who want to know how to become saved. You will not even truly have the desire to unless you are called by the Father.[/quote]
>Even if that were true - and of course it is not,
NIV Romans 1:1-7
1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God--
2 the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures
3 regarding his Son, who as to his human nature was a descendant of David,
4 and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.
5 Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.
6 And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.
7 To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.NIV Jude 1:1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ:
NIV Romans 8:29-39
29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
36 As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. There you go, Derek. The 'calling' is entirely Biblical and I threw in 'once saved; always saved' for good measure.
> the voices Rex hears do not belong to God - it strikes me as being very unfair. God arbitrarily chooses certain people to be saved and he condemns the rest to an eternity of torture for somebody else's mistakes.
Nope, you twist the scriptural point. We each have 'free will'.
> Rex, if your god exists, he is evil. Why do you worship him? Is it because you're afraid of going to hell?
Coming from someone who doesn't take the time to understand remotely what he is discussing, this does not surprise me. Hell? Read John 15, the gospel accounts of the crucifixtion and then you will see why I love the Lord God Almighty.

Princess
Your attitude is the problem too. Why would you want to offend her anyways? Women seem to love verbal cruelty toward one another.
>Princess is right about this girl. She is desperately trying to make us see her version of Jesus. I'm sorry, but I just don't see him that way. To me, he died for all men, not just the "militant" Christians. And I'm not even sure I believe that, but that's what the Bible says. Let's not add anything to what it actually says, okay?
Mulan"To me" is really not the point. The point is what does scripture say? Who added anything to the Bible?
It also seems as if the two of you are really ganging up on your brother's/sons' wife, simply by your attitudes here....If I am wrong then I apologize but at least give her credit for doing something that she thinks would benefit you.
So you experienced a cult. Big deal, we all have here. Instead of skimming the surface beliefs and saying 'it's all the same', try actually looking into a subject before you blow it off.>SaintSatan, that is exactly what I was saying: the acrobatics they all go through, to claim their own special brand of salvation. It's all so nauseating, and familiar. Thank you.
What 'acrobatics'? The gospel is simple. However, when we are dealing with people who have been taught slander about real Chrsitianity there is lot to unlearn. Plus, a theological issue can be very difficult to explain in this type of setting. For instance, we were speaking of election, which has a 'calvinist' view and an 'arminian' view, both teach some amount of free will is involved in the 'calling' but the calvinist view is actually better supported by scripture.

Hi Princess,
>That is utter nonsense. Your god is not a loving god if that is how he treats his followers. I want no part of a god who sees fit to save a few while allowing the rest to die. (WTC)
Uh, do you actually read anything posted to you or just skim to look for things you don't like?
>It makes no sense at all that only those who hear the call will feel the need to be saved, but some will never hear the call. Thus, never had a shot?
Try a little actual reading of the book of Romans, get a good commentary and dig in. You keep asking questions that have nothing to do with salvation (which is simple: we are saved by grace through faith), you then want a one minute answer to theological issues that REQUIRE study time to understand.+

How am I insulting you, Princess? I am patiently posting information that I do not expect nor require an answer to. I know there is too much to digest at once. Copy it to a word file and go from there.
You seem to want quick, one minute answers to questions that involve actual study time in order to understand the context. WE have to unlearn JWism in order to hope to understand Biblical teachings. I grieve that so many Christians do not take the time to truly learn what the Bible teaches and why.
I wish you enlightenment, your mother as well.

Princess,
Search scripture for Jesus' teaching the pharisees about hell. It is not 'figurative'. Take the time to learn the theology and see what you discover. The post answers your previous questions about the immortal soul.
Surely Marilyn would not begrudge you doing some honest digging on such an important issue as YOUR salvation, right?
What is the consequence of sin and why are we 'fallen'?

HI Marilyn,
Of course I 'cut and paste'. Why retype a research article when I have file saved with all of the pertinent info on it? Read it if you truly want an answer.
Really, you do not know 'beans' about real Christianity or you wouldn't constantly associate it with 'dubs and their cultic beliefs. Have you ever actually researched the scriptures needed to understand protestant beliefs? I spent my first 45 years being exposed to JW beliefs and I absolutely hated Catholic and Protestant churches...
Till God woke me up with the light of the Son! ;-)
Princess has questions and I am trying to show her what I found. You don't begrudge her that, do you?

P.
Did you see the new post, Princess?
Yes, the implication IS there that God saves some and chooses not to save others. So it is with salvation too.
God determines when we are called out of this world. He is sovereign or He is not God in the first place! Some are healed, some are not, some live (for a time longer), some die. We go when we have accomplished our original purpose. We go condemed or we go glorified. There are those who will accept the call and those never hear it at all.
Can we figure it all out? NO.
Do we have enough info to be saved? YES.
RexS.S.
If you were truly saved, then you will return to God, just like the prodigal son. I have no idea what kind of discipleship (if any) training you had, nor the core beliefs of your conversion. I don't know you and cannot reasonably answer your experience.
I do wish you grace and ask that you start listening to some real preaching in a Bible teaching church. Have you ever listened to Charles Stanley, Adrian Rogers, Chuck Swindoll, Michael Yousef, James Macarther?
